Should a journalist who sits on a panel show state their political beliefs before the discussion takes place?
Probably depends on the situation. On Meet the Press a couple of weeks ago, precise of the customer was Peggy Noonan. She was brought on the show to be a commentator, also she was Reagan's speechwriter, so you know she's cave on have a particular peculiarity of view. George Will is certainly going to be right-of-center.
Now -- this is different than having a journalist ask questions. Tim Russert asks pretty tough put through the wringer on anyone who develop over the show. His exclusive political impression really don't affair in this case. David Broder enjoy been on stacks of these shows over the years as a questioner, and he's always been fair. So I don't think your situation is a problem customary almost cases.
